Neck Lift

Procedure Information for Neck Lift:

RISKS AND COMPLICATIONS
While neck lift surgeries are generally safe, it is crucial for patients to be aware of the potential risks involved. Here is a list of some possible risks and complications:
- Anesthesia carries its own risks, including allergic reactions, respiratory issues, or adverse effects on the cardiovascular system.
- Excessive bleeding during or after the surgery may require additional intervention, such as surgical exploration or blood transfusion.
- Although rare, infections can occur postoperatively. They may require antibiotics or, in severe cases, drainage of the infected area.
- A collection of blood under the skin may lead to hematoma formation, which may require drainage to alleviate discomfort and aid in proper healing.
- The nerves in the neck region could be inadvertently damaged during surgery, resulting in temporary or permanent numbness, tingling, or muscle weakness.
- In some cases, the incisions may heal poorly, resulting in visible scars, delayed wound healing, or wound separation.
- Uneven skin contours, texture changes, or skin discoloration may occur, although these are typically temporary and improve over time.
- Swelling and bruising are common after a neck lift. While they usually resolve on their own, some patients may experience prolonged or excessive swelling.
- Fluid accumulation, known as a seroma, may occur under the skin. If significant, it may require drainage to promote proper healing.v
- In rare cases, there may be slight asymmetry between the two sides of the neck. Additional procedures or adjustments may be necessary for correction.
